The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) is a not for profit organisation that has been helping to shape agriculture in Australia since 1822. Boasting a membership base of 12,000 people, the RAS is responsible for conducting the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the Sydney Royal Wine, Dairy and Fine Food Shows as well as other activities throughout the year. The RAS also manages Sydney Showground and the Australasian Animal Registry.
The RAS Rural Achiever Award is a state-wide leadership program run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW to recognise future young leaders who are working hard to make a significant contribution to their local community and to rural Australia. The selected Rural Achievers were judged by a panel of judges at 3 locations, Sydney, Tamworth and Parkes. Final judging took place at Parkes on the 15th of December 2009.
